Ever since childhood, my vivid imagination and appetite for adventure have led me to writing and connecting with others creatively. Through my experiences living in many different cities and states during my formative years, I have learned to adapt to change and to explore many parts of the world through a compassionate and creative lens. I am very hospitable, communicative, and good at fostering connections. Journalism has always been the ideal role I want to take on, influencing the public with my compelling storytelling and delivering important news on music culture, fashion, art, and the journeys of our ever-evolving planet.
My contributions to prominent news publications, Electric Hawk, Heard It Here First and MP3 Magazine, have given me valuable experience in report writing, event coverage, digital engagement, and interviewing. The wonderful education I received in Journalism and Media Studies at Colorado State University helped to sharpen my craft and expand my journalistic abilities. This includes website content writing, podcasting, social media management, brand management, videography, and video editing.
I want to give my writing purpose by sharing it with the world. I aim to bring authenticity and high standards into my professional work by always being honest and sincere. There have been countless times when I was put in a situation with little information, and I had to use my resources, research skills, flexibility, and adaptability to overcome it. In one situation, I was given little content and an article due date. I used my networking and people skills to reach out to artists, conduct an interview with a prominent figure in music, Phyphr, write a captivating story, and edit a podcast episode. Through this, I solved problems in difficult circumstances with professionalism and demonstrated dependability for the brand I was representing. Photos 4-8 below showcase my artist interviews and other media from my articles.
My commitments to achieving equity and highlighting the unrepresented reflect my morals and open-mindedness. Through research and interviews, I compiled a transmedia story and an article about the small nonprofit organization and animal rescue transport, Hope For Paws. I increased the company’s social engagements by about 19% and raised awareness of how they help the community in need and our world, attracting new volunteers. See Photos 1-3 below for a look into my experience. I have also written articles and worked with the artist A Hundred Drums, a black female producer striving to make history. A Hundred Drums works with many organizations in the POC and LGBTQ+ communities and has set a goal of becoming the first black woman to play Red Rocks. It’s been my honor to help her achieve this through my skills in news writing, interviewing, and storytelling, while working to enhance diversity in all my efforts.
By reaching towards my ambitions, I have formed strong relationships and cultivated a loyal following as a reliable journalist. All of my experiences have given me a positive brand that would be a valuable addition to any team.
