Work Philosophy Statement

I take pride in my authenticity and ability to adapt and thrive in any situation while conducting myself in a professional manner. Through my many skills in storytelling, open-mindedness, flexibility, and dependability, I always leave room for improvement and the best interest of others.

Ever since I was young, I loved to read books, write stories, and meet new people. Journalism has always been the ideal role I want to take on, delivering the truth and spreading the world’s greatness and diversity with ethics. I give purpose to news through storytelling. The wonderful education I received at Colorado State University with a B.A. in Journalism and Media studies has allowed me to excel in many areas including reporting, videography, and social media management. My contributions to news writing and media publications, Heard It Here First and The Mastery Clan, have helped me develop skills in digital engagement and form career goals.

As I build my portfolio, I have found many strengths and abilities. It’s my goal to bring back journalism to high standards and teach the importance of honesty and sincerity through my authentic and professional work. There have been countless times where I was put in a situation with little information and I had to use my resources, research skills, flexibility, and adaptability to overcome it. In one situation, I was faced with an article due date and no interview. I used my networking and personable skills to reach out to artists, conduct an interview with a very reputable source, write an amazing story, and record a podcast. Through this, I showed dependability and professionalism to problem-solve and thrive in difficult circumstances. Photos 4-8 showcase my artist interviews and media in my articles.

My commitments to achieving equity and highlighting the unrepresented reflect my morals and open-mindedness. Through research and interviewing, I compiled a transmedia story and article on the small nonprofit organization and animal rescue transport, Hope For Paws. I raised the company’s social engagements by about 19% and brought awareness to how they help the community in need and our world, bringing them new volunteers. See Photos 1-3 for a look into my experience. I also have written articles and worked with the artist, A Hundred Drums, a black female producer striving towards making history. Hundred Drums works with many organizations in the POC and LGBTQ+ community and has created a goal to be the first black woman to play Red Rocks. “This is for my ancestors, this is for my ladies, my non-binary’s, my POCs, my LGBTQ+ community, and for all the under-represented! Equality is a huge part of my motive,” she said in an interview. It’s been my honor to help her reach this achievement through my skills in news writing, interviewing, and storytelling while working to enhance diversity in all of my efforts.

Reaching towards my ambitions, I have formed great relationships and cultivated a loyal following as a reliable journalist. The Mastery Clan founder said in an interview, “Align your goals, and morals, and pursue your opportunities. These skills include marketing, business background, communication, psychology, knowing what motivates people and how to network.” All of my experiences have led me to a positive brand as a journalist, ready to take on any situation and story that awaits me.
